Choose A Wedding Florist Who Can Bring Your Personality To The Wedding

Copyright © 2007-2008 Wesley Berry, AAF

When Sandra Bullock married Jesse James (of Monster Garage fame), guests like William Shatner, Regina King, Jason Biggs and Jamie Lee Curtis saw her carry a wedding bouquet of red roses that had been bound together by a leather strap.

The bouquet that Sandra Bullock carried for her wedding reflected love and toughness at the same time – a reflection that mirrored the relationship that she and Jesse James share.

When you get married, it is important to choose a wedding florist who can bring your personalities to your wedding. Therefore, it is important to interview a number of florists to find the one who is right for you.

After all, for most weddings, you won't just be ordering a bridal bouquet. In addition, you will also want to consider or order:

  • a bouquet for the bouquet toss if you do not think that you will want to part with the bouquet that you carried down the aisle;
  • a bouquet for the maid of honor;
  • bouquets for the bridesmaids;
  • a boutonnière for the groom;
  • boutonnières for the best man and other groomsmen;
  • a corsage for the mother of the bride;
  • a corsage for the mother of the groom;
  • boutonnières for the fathers of the bride and groom;
  • flowers to decorate the altar and line the aisle; and,
  • flowers for decorating the reception hall

    Not every bride and groom will choose to order all of flowers in that list. For some, a simple bouquet for the bride is all that they will order. Choosing where you will use flowers in your wedding ceremony, therefore, is important even before you hire a florist to provide your wedding flowers.

    Once you have chosen where you will use flowers, you can begin interviewing to find a wedding florist. You'll want to find someone who will not pressure you into buying wedding flowers that you do not want to have. Similarly, you will want to find a wedding florist who can work with you to choose the right flowers for your wedding – flowers that reflect your personality.

    For example, if you do not like roses, you should avoid working with wedding florist who insists that a wedding just isn't a wedding without roses. If you want to have your bridal bouquet and other flowers for your wedding capture your love of natural beauty with wildflowers, it is important to hire a wedding florist who will respect that wish and work with you to ensure that the flowers at your wedding reflect you.

    When it comes to choosing a wedding florist who will work with you, however, there are more points to consider than just whether or not he or she can provide the flowers that fit your personality. In addition, you want to be sure that a wedding florist is selling you the flowers that you want at a reasonable price that you can afford.

    Be sure to ask the wedding florists that you interview about pricing concerns – both for the flowers themselves and for delivery. Also ask about their experience, work that they have done in the past and even whether or not they've provided arrangements for other weddings at the same location as yours.

    By taking the time to ask questions, you can be sure to find the right wedding florist for you – one who will give you the best price and the service that you are looking for; one who will listen to you and work with you to bring your personality into your wedding ceremony.

    Not everyone wants to carry red roses gathered with a leather strap the way Sandra Bullock did – but keep in mind, it worked for her, in part because she chose to work with a wedding florist who kept her desires in mind during the process of selecting a wedding flowers.
