Which Flowers Match Britney Spears' Home Style?

Copyright © 2006-2008 Wesley Berry, AAF

As she's grown up in the public eye, the world has watched pop-icon Britney Spears change her style over the years. She's gone from flirty pop teen to mother of two. As she's grown up, it's very likely her tastes in home décor have changed as well. According to the Society of American Florists, there are five main home decorating styles-and there are flowers to go with every one of them.

Victorian

If Spears' style leans toward Victorian, she decorates with velvet, satin, lace, and organza to give her home a romantic feel. Her color choices include delicate pastels and tone-on-tone prints. The flowers in her home will be very fragrant, including roses, peonies, lavender, gardenias, and freesia. Flower colors that will complement the romance of her home are pale peach, lavender, pink, yellow, and cream. They'll be arranged in clear glass, crystal, and silver vases.

Modern Contemporary

If Spears' is living in a home decorated in a modern contemporary style, her home is full of smooth surfaces and clean lines. Her furnishings might include bright silks, leather accented with steel, glass, and non-organic materials. To best accent the modern contemporary style, flowers should be bold and exotic, like anthuriums, heliconia, callas, and orchids. Since modern contemporary homes have lots of open space, Spears can choose large, showy floral displays. Flower containers perfect for this style are frosted glass, decorative pottery, pewter, and stainless steel.

Classic Traditional

Should Spears' style be classic traditional, she probably has a big, beautiful front door leading into a foyer and rooms that are decorated independently of the other rooms in the house. She may have antiques and use fabrics like brocade and tapestry. Flower arrangements that go best in this kind of home combine a variety of flowers, such as roses, gladiolas, irises, carnations, lilies, and snapdragons. Arrangements may be accented with dried fruit and foliage. Containers might be brass, crystal, silver, and porcelain.

Casual Easy Living

Spears' decorative tastes might fall into the casual easy living style where the focus is on making life more simple and pleasant. The furniture in her home might be made from light pine or other wood, bleached oak, or painted white and accented with linen and cotton fabrics in neutral tones. Flowering plants in baskets are perfect here. Cut flowers might include sunflowers, daisies, hydrangea, and tulips loosely grouped in clear glass vases, pitchers, or other pottery.

American Country

If Spears' likes the American country style, her home is filled with items from the past, like quilts, wooden crates, and galvanized metal bowls. The look is comfortable and welcoming. Flowers might be placed on the kitchen counter or on an end table in baskets or simple vases. Wreaths and swags with a country-fresh feel are also common.

Regardless of the home decorating style that Britney Spears favors, her florist can help her choose the perfect flowers to fit her home...or yours! Contact your florist for help in decorating your home with beautiful flowers that fit the unique personality of your house.
