What is a Good White Persian Melon Blend?

Copyright © 2008 Jon M. Stout

White teas are the rarest and most expensive of all teas. So, it's important to buy good quality white tea so that you're truly getting your money's worth. When you're purchasing a white tea blend, like White Persian Melon tea, it's also important that you choose a quality blend; so that the flavor of the white tea is not compromised by the way it's been blended.

White tea is just gaining popularity in the Western world. White tea comes from the same plant as black and green teas, but it is processed in a different manner, which gives it a different taste. White tea is harvested much earlier than other teas, before the leaves are fully open. At this point in the growing process, the tea buds are still covered by fine white hair, which is why this tea is referred to as white tea.

In addition to the early harvest that makes white tea different from other teas, white tea is not fermented. The lack of fermentation keeps tea's natural anti-oxidants in place and helps create the delicate flavor that makes white tea so unique.

This lack of fermentation makes white tea a particularly healthy beverage. Because the tea leaves are left in their most natural state, the anti-oxidants are uncompromised and at their most powerful. Much research has been done in recent years on how tea's anti-oxidants can help protect our health by slowing down the aging process and preventing disease. White tea's anti-oxidants are powerful at fighting free radicals in our bodies.

These free radicals are created when our bodies convert the food we eat into energy. Left unchecked, they damage our cells and DNA, leading to aging and disease. An anti-oxidant rich diet, including fruits, vegetables and white or green tea, combats these anti-oxidants, preventing them from damaging our bodies. A regular diet of white or green tea has been shown to prevent serious illnesses like cancer and heart disease.

White Persian Melon tea is even healthier than other white teas, too, because melon also contains a very potent anti-oxidant, GliSODin. GliSODin is special because, in addition to the anti-oxidants it provides, it has been shown to stimulate our bodies to produce their own anti-oxidants. In studies, GliSODin alone has been shown to protect against oxidative damage and protect our cell. So, as you can see, drinking a high quality blend of white tea with melon might just be one of the healthiest things you can do for your body.

Both the flavor and the health benefits of White Persian Melon tea depend upon the quality of the tea blend chosen. Lower quality tea blends not only will not have the sweet and delicate taste you're looking for, but it may use artificial melon flavoring, which won't contain the anti-oxidants of a naturally flavored tea.

A quality White Persian Melon tea blend will be made with Silver Needles or White Peony white tea. These two grades of white tea are considered the very best, and will give you the best sweet and delicate flavor that is so important in white tea.

Just as important, however, to the quality of the White Persian Melon tea blend is the melon flavoring used. Some flavored teas use artificial flavoring. A White Persian Melon tea made with artificial melon flavoring will be far inferior in terms of the flavor of the tea. An artificial melon flavor will create a "fake" melon taste that you can spot a mile away. The artificial flavor will likely overpower the flavor of the white tea, as well.

In addition, in order to receive the health benefits that GlisSODin can provide, it's important that your White Persian Melon tea be flavored with real melon nectar. Only real melon nectar will contain the natural anti-oxidant found in melon.

As when you're blending any other food or beverage, the actual proportion of the two components is critical. The best White Persian Melon tea has been tested time and again to get exactly the right mix of tea and melon flavoring. A combination of melon nectars is used, to give a flavor that's a cross between honeydew and cantaloupe, for the sweetest and freshest melon taste. The best White Persian Melon tea blends have been especially formulated for quality, flavor and health benefits.

Try Golden Moon's White Persian Melon tea for a sample of just how good this white tea blend can taste.
